Our Staff: Who We Are


Sarah Johnston


"Miss Sarah" Johnston, who has been dancing since the age of three and teaching dance for almost 25 years, graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Arizona with a BFA in Dance. She has performed professionally in ballet, modern, and jazz productions with Paul Powell Productions in Tucson and Canyon Movement Company in Flagstaff, and in "The Glory of Christmas" at the Crystal Cathedral. For 5 years, she danced at Disneyland: in Parade of Dreams, A Christmas Fantasy Parade, Disney’s Electrical Parade, and Fantasmic! Miss Sarah has taught ballet, modern, jazz, lyrical, tap, hip hop, leaps and turns, and choreography for Momentum Dance Center, Pacific Dance Center, Canyon Dance Academy, Orange County Dance Productions, Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy, and Coconino Community College, and she coached the Flagstaff High School Dance Team. She has taught and performed in Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, the Netherlands, and Italy, as well as all over the US. Miss Sarah is a certified yoga teacher and a certified "Rhythm Works Integrative Dance" instructor for children with special needs. Her newest title is that of "Mom," to her two little dancers, Elizabeth and Isadora, both 2 years old.


Maria Medellin


"Miss Maria" Medellin began dance training at the spry age of 10, at different studios in Orange County, where she found her love of many different styles of dance. Maria was determined to train as much as she could in order to keep up with her peers, and at the ripe old age of 14, she started taking classes at Focus Dance Center. Maria has join multiple dance groups and teams, including the OCC Dance Team, IVC Performing Dance Ensemble with the Late Marie De La Palme (may she Rest In Peace), The Elle Vie Dance Company and many more. As well as Contemporary, Lyrical, Tap, and Ballet. Maria also has an immense love for Hip Hop Dance, and has choreographed and performed in many of the LA dance community’s projects, including Boogiezone Utopia’s dance company, "Developing The Next Artist." Maria prides herself in her versatility, and strives to spread the love of her art to younger generations for years to come, in the hopes they will deliver a positive message through their own movement and music interpretation. Miss Maria was inspired by the young dancers she teaches with Showtime, to study Early Childhood Education, and someday become a preschool teacher.


Sharon Jewell


"Miss Sharon" Jewell joins us from the world of professional musical theatre, having performed is such shows as: Oliver!, Chicago, Singing in the Rain, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Memphis, Godspell, The Tempest, and Crazy for You. She is also an experienced dance and cotillion teacher with training from Circle in the Square Theatre School and a theatre degree from BYU. She has performed in parades at Disneyland for 7 years, and regularly performs in her own YouTube series, and in plays, and musicals throughout Orange County, including Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors with "Shakespeare by the Sea."


Mirissa Jones


"Miss Mirissa" Jones is a Southern California-based Dance Instructor and Choreographer specializing in the education of young and beginning dancers in the styles of jazz, tap and ballet. She trained as a competitive studio dancer and as a member of Los Alamitos High School dance team. She began her teaching career with Elevation Studios is Signal Hill, CA where she helped develop and direct their Summer Camp program, serving as an introduction for young performers not only to various styles of dance, but also voice and acting for both stage and camera. She continues to teach and pursue her goal of sharing the joy of dance with new students everyday.


Hannah Cook


"Miss Hannah" Cook began her training at many dance studios in North County. She then attended the Joffrey Ballet School’s Trainee Program, mentored by Francesca Corkle. Ms. Cook attended UCSD where she studied under Patricia Rincon, Eric Geiger, Alison Dietterle Smith, Liam Clancy, Sadie Weinberg, and Terry Wilson. She completed her BA and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2014, where she was recognized as a Muir Scholar and awarded The Leandra Smith Memorial Dance Scholarship. She has taught dance in elementary schools through Arts for Learning and Showtime Dance. Currently, she is enjoying choreographing and performing as a Work Study with San Diego Dance Theater and performing with H2O Dance Company.
